Book Reviews | V. 1

I have been seeing this book everywhere and it took me forever to get around to reading it. I'm so glad I did because I LOVED it! It's a coming of age / murder mystery by Delia Owens about the “Marsh Girl” aka Kya Clark. Someone is murdered and everyone suspects her because they think she's just some crazy girl living alone in the marsh. She's actually really intelligent and was able to survive on her own in the marsh for years. I was so surprised to find out who the murderer was!

Queen of Hearts Saga
Since I love Alice in Wonderland, I knew I would enjoy this series. It's written from Dinah, the Queen of Hearts, point of view and follows her progression from princess to queen. I thought Colleen Oakes did a great job taking elements from the original story and making them her own.

The Kitchen Daughter
This book is about Ginny, a young woman who's sheltered by her parents because she has Asperger’s. Once her parents die in an accident, Ginny turns to cooking for comfort. From there, she discovers that when she cooks a hand written recipe by someone, it brings back their ghost. The book follows Ginny's journey as she struggles to understand the secrets that come to light. I really enjoyed Jael McHenry's interesting insight into the way a person with Asperger’s looks at things.

The Scandalous Sisterhood of Prickwillow Place
I laughed out loud a few times reading this book. Such a great read! It's a murder mystery about the girls of St. Etheldreda's. The headmistress and her brother are murdered so the girls decide to solve it - all the while trying to hide the fact that they don't have a headmistress anymore.

Charlotte Holmes Series
This series follows the story of Jamie and Charlotte, the descendants of John Watson and Sherlock Holmes, who solve murders in the modern-day. I'm obsessed with anything Sherlock Holmes so I really enjoyed reading these books.

Three Dark Crowns Series
This series is about triplets who are competing to become the crowned queen of their kingdom. They all possess different types of magic that are supposed to help them kill the other two. I'm only on book four but it's a page turner so I'm sure I'll be finished with the series in no time!
